About

The ForgeShieldTech Mission

ForgeShieldTech was founded by Joseph Johnson; an embedded software engineer who understands that the war to secure systems from attackers, although never ending, is a necessary fight. As technology advances, so too must we. Our goal is simple: Build and document architecture that allows security to be transparent, scalable, understandable, and above all else accessible to developers and businesses alike.

Where much is known, much is required. Security professionals have a duty to pass on the knowledge and information they acquire, both to other professionals and the general public. It is only together that we could ever hope to make the world a safer place.

Behind the Shield: The Journey

It’s rather difficult to try and pinpoint the beginning of this journey. Was it the curiosity of technology bred from video games as a child, nurtured by the exposure to FIRST Robotics in high school? Perhaps it was studying computer science at Kettering University, being introduced to this foreign concept known as cybersecurity. And yet, it wasn’t until years later that I acquired my CompTIA Security+ Certification, after having already been in the world of embedded software engineering. While we may not be able to say the exact day things clicked, today I can say that the pivot to a security first, defensive mindset has already begun, and ForgeShieldTech is a result of that.

I believe that the modern security landscape is changing; from the baseline hardware to the cloud infrastructure. Now more than ever, we need people to stay informed and stay secure. This philosophy drives my ongoing research, my open-source projects, and the professional services I provide.
